The Pacific Northwest
Russell first visited the Northwest was in 2005, to meet the family of his wife-to-be. He was taken by the trees and the color green. Green was everywhere, varying in shades and textures. Most of the trees looked soft, coated in moss. It was summertime, the sun was out, and it was not raining. So, from then on, a week or two is spent in Washington and Oregon during mid summer.
This group of paintings exhibited include some of those cool mossy trees, some of the Cascades, and some of the Pacific Northwest coast. Many of these works were painted plein air.
